Mr. Reich is the owner and manager of Oregon Geotechnical Services, and an
Oregon and Washington Registered Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering
Geologist,
specializing
in surface and subsurface exploration and modeling for developing residential
design and construction alternatives, rock and/or soil slope stability analysis
and hazard mitigation, soil and
rock classification for engineering purposes, geotechnical analysis and design,
groundwater modeling, regional geology and geologic resource mapping. The majority
of Oregon
Geotechnical Services work is provided for the residential and small commercial
construction and development community. Mr. Reich has been providing information
to engineers, architects,
developers and builders in Oregon and southwest Washington since 1989.
Mr. Reich has conducted geologic investigations in Oregon using aerial photography, roadcut
exposure, and field mapping to identify soils and landslide features. He has conducted
geotechnical exploration using heavy construction equipment, diamond core drilling and soil
augers with standard penetration testing, as well as hand-tool exploration techniques. He has
installed and maintained electronic and mechanical monitoring equipment for ground movement
(surface and subsurface), groundwater and rainfall. He has logged over 5000 feet of mineral
exploration drilling, providing data on lithology and secondary mineralization in addition to
drilling parameters. He has inventoried and analyzed slope movements on approximately 200,000
acres of the Oregon Coast Range and Cascades.
Previously Mr. Reich has previously served as the engineering geologist for Geostandards Corp, GEM Consulting, Inc. and the South Geotechnical Group of the Willamette National Forest. He has collected geologic information from numerous sites around Oregon and Washington, and authored publications placing the results into a regional geologic/tectonic context. His understanding of regional and local geology and practical approach to construction problems has been fundamental to his successful approach to geotechnical consulting in Oregon and Washington.
